Learn how ignoring the first offer, skipping decluttering, and bad photos can cost you time and money.
What mistakes should you avoid when selling your home? There are many little things sellers overlook that can end up costing them time, money, or even losing out on a great deal. Today, I’m focusing on the top three mistakes sellers make when selling their homes so you can avoid making the same mistakes:
1. Ignoring the first offer. Many sellers hold out, hoping to get multiple offers. But sometimes, the first offer is the best one. While it’s tempting to wait for more bids, you might miss out on a great opportunity. So, if the first offer is solid, it’s worth giving it some serious thought.
2. Not decluttering or depersonalizing. When potential buyers walk through your door, you want them to imagine themselves living there, not feel like they’re intruding on someone else’s space. By clearing out your personal items, buyers can see the “bones” of your home and envision what it could be like for them.
3. Skipping professional photography. I can’t stress enough how important it is to get professional photography done. This is your home’s first impression online; we all know how much that matters. A skilled photographer can capture your home in the best light, showing off all its features. If your Realtor doesn’t bring in a pro for this, it’s time to ask why.
